UBC comes alive with a new kind of energy when word spreads that there is live music being played somewhere on campus. After a day's work, winding down is not always the way to go. You may find yourself pulling up to Koerner’s, the Gallery or some nook you’ve never heard of before to witness someone else’s creative outlet or establish one of your own.

This issue highlights just a few collectives on campus — UBC Jazz Club, UBC Music Initiative and Blank Vinyl Project — that always make room for music.

If you prefer slapshots or spikes over swing, read about Winter Classic and women’s volleyball wins. In science, learn more about robots in nursing homes and why Canadians are feeling shitty.
